Paris District High School Reunion – September 2010

Welcome to the refreshed Paris District High School 2010 Reunion website.

It was billed as Paris District High School Reunion 2010 – a three-day event a lot of former students of PHS and PDHS might be interested in attending. Well, it was a long time in coming and now it’s over. But as so many of those who attended agree …it will never be forgotten.

On the weekend of September 17th, 18th and 19th hundreds of former students returned home for the event that captured their hearts, resurrected fond memories and left them with tears of joy as they enjoyed a marvelous opportunity to reconnect with former friends and classmates from so many years ago. Call it a reunion. Call it a sentimental journey back in time. Even call it a love-in if you wish for it was all those and more.

Attendance figures exceeded expectations and -in some cases- capacity at the selected venues but no one seemed to mind. Never did we expect such a resounding response that flowed through the doors at the Friday “Meet and Greet” at the Paris Grand Country Club and into the hallways and onto the field at PDHS on Saturday. Even the Saturday night Dinner/Dance at the Paris Fairgrounds exceeded the numbers given to the caterers. And on Sunday morning the staff at the Paris Grand Country Club thought they might have to chase down some local chickens and pigs and steal some veggies from local gardens as a larger than expected turnout gathered for Brunch.

For those of you who were unable to attend, it was event that you probably wish you hadn’t missed.Regardless, hundreds of those moments are now on display in this website thanks to the photographic talents of people like Dave de Bruine, Bob Howes, Michelle Apps and Michael Southam who spent the entire weekend with cameras in hand to ensure those treasured moments were captured and displayed for your enjoyment.

This site will remain active for at least the next two years. If you are still looking for a friend you lost touch with or just want to say how much you enjoyed to the reunion, be sure to use our Message Wall below to post your thoughts.

Looks like this is the first entry in 2011. Unless there is interest by the people visiting this site it doesn't make a lot of sense to keep it. -Jim

There is the saying, "Success has a thousand fathers, failure is an orphan". while many would be very proud to be credited with the phenominal success of the PDHS Reunion, we know that a relatively small committee brought this about. I would like to spotlight Woody and Ken for their informative and very humorous e-mails and newsletters which created an inviting atmosphere. If ,at some point, you were undecided, you soon realized, "I can't miss this event!" For those who could not attend I am sure they were with us in spirit because of the constant informative updates. My wife Carolyn and I had a wonderful time and we would like to extend our appreciation to all those responsible. Alf Hilton P.S. I am going to miss the e-mails and newsletters, so of there is anything left on the cutting floor send it along.

I attended the reunion this past weekend and would like to thank Dave and Ken for the time they spent on the website and the newsletters. Most people don't realize the countless hours spent on this exercise. Also Woody and Dave Kipp. I felt the reunion was a resounding success and everyone who attended had a great time if the volume in the buildings was any indicator. Finally for all the people who took pictures you need to send them along so they can be posted for those who were unable to attend. Jim Stevenson

I entered PHS sept 1938 for 2 years. As I peruse the names of those attending I don't find any that I know. Who knows, except for Fred Bemrose I may be the oldest one to attend.

Although I only attended PDHS for one year (1962), and moved away from Paris in acqu1969, I still have great memories of friends and acquaintences from those years. I hope that everyone attending the reunion has a great time. Best regards to all. Chuck Church
